Very little people can claim they never moved, not once in their lives. For the rest of us who have done it a few or more times, dumpsters can come in very handy. For that matter, a dumpster can solve many more of your waste management problems. And one of the most important things to know when renting a dumpster is how to pick the right size.
Many shapes and sizes
Before you order an oversized dumpster and pay more than you have to, do a little bit of research. The usual sizes of dumpsters are as follows: 10, 20, 30 or 40-yard dumpsters. It means how big are they, or to be more precise, how big are they regarding volume. So, the 10-yard dumpster holds ten cubic yards and so on. A 10 cubic yard dumpster will hold as much debris and waste as you can fit into approximately three pickup trucks.
The right dumpster for the right job
10 yard dumpsters are great for small demolitions and remodeling projects, as well as cleanouts of medium scale. 20-yard ones work well for slightly larger remodeling and medium sized construction projects like roof removal on buildings larger than 1.500 square feet. 30 or 40-yard dumpsters are mostly reserved for commercial and industrial purposes. They also do the job when it comes to large scale home rebuilds, new additions to your house or complete refurbishings.
